Abstract
This report examines the explanatory factors for school district expulsion rates. It examines the statistical relationship between the rates of expulsion in South Carolina’s public-school districts and several possible explanatory factors such as the poverty rate in a school district, percent of minority students in a school district (Native American, African American, Hispanic, and Asian), the interaction between minority racial composition and poverty rates, and the interaction between minority students and college enrollment after graduation.
