Abstract
The Department of Health and Environmental Control (Department), to prevent disease and
protect the environment, is required by various state laws and regulations to conduct environmental health
inspections at facilities licensed, regulated, or registered by other state agencies. The Department also is
requested by various state and federal agencies by policy or program guidelines to provide general
environmental health inspections of specified facilities. These inspections cannot be provided unless funds
to defray the cost of conducting the inspections and administering and operating the program are made
available.
