Councils, Committees, and Commissions

South Carolina has a number of executive commissions, committees, task forces, councils, panels, and advisory boards created or authorized by action of the Governor, General Assembly, or other constitutional officer. These committees are assigned a specific responsibility or area of inquiry. They often dispense advice or recommendations. Many of these committees must complete their work by a prescribed date, and others are ongoing. They may receive staff or other administrative support from an executive department or agency.
