Included in this collection are the inaugural addresses received as individual documents from the Governor’s Office and selected addresses from the House or Senate Journal. When available, we have also digitized and included the program from the inauguration. The Governor is installed on the first Wednesday after the second Tuesday in January following the election, unless the governor-elect is unable to be present that day. In recent history the inauguration of the Governor has been on the steps of the State House, before the General Assembly and the public. The Oath of Office is administered by the Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court.
