Energy Spotlight

The Energy Office awards mini-grants each year to fund several high-impact demonstration projects in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and clean transportation. The Energy Office strives to direct funding toward more rural areas and organizations to provide additional support to complete projects like these. In addition to saving money and reducing energy consumption, Mini-Grant Program projects include a focus on educating the public.     (2022-03-14) South Carolina Energy Office
    The Energy Office, a department of the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff, awards mini-grants each year to fund high-impact demonstration projects in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and clean transportation. With 2022 funding, the Energy Office awarded over $65,700 in minigrants to Beaufort County, the City of Rock Hill, Florence County School District Three, Lugoff Fire Department, the Montessori School of Columbia, the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, the Town of Clover, and Trident Technical College.

    Energy spotlight Plug in SC
    (2020-06-15) South Carolina Energy Office
    Plug in SC is the only marketing campaign in South Carolina focused on the advancement of EVs (Electric Vehicles). It is designed to encourage a unified approach to EV signage based on nationally recognized templates. Plug in SC recommends standardized EV charging station signage, pavement markings, and directional signage. In addition, Plug in SC serves as a source for EV information and best practices in implementation.

    Energy spotlight green energy biofuel
    (2021-02-10) South Carolina Energy Office
    Founded in 2008, Green Energy Biofuel strives to efficiently upcycle numerous waste streams in a socially conscious manner. Originally operating out of its Winnsboro, SC plant, Green Energy Biofuel has grown to three locations in two states. The company has the capacity to process 30 tanker loads or 200,000 gallons of used cooking oil each day. This used cooking oil is then shipped to biodiesel plants across the Southeast to be refined into biodiesel for use as an alternative to diesel fuel.
