South Carolina DAODAS/HUD Recovery Housing Program Fiscal Year 2024
(South Carolina State Library, 2024-06-14) South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services
For many individuals, achieving and maintaining recovery from a substance use disorder (SUD) is hindered by a lack of safe, affordable housing that is supportive of the recovery process. Recovery housing extends the continuum of care to provide support to individuals as they initiate, stabilize, and maintain long-term recovery in the community. Through the implementation of recovery housing rental assistance from RHP funds, DAODAS will seek to address this gap and provide for greater access across all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic populations in the state.

Illicit drug use and academic achievement in SC, 2007
(South Carolina State Library, 2010-03-18) South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services; Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation; South Carolina State Department of Education; South Carol ina State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup
Analysis of data from the 2007 South Carolina Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), indicated that an association exists between illicit drug use and student academic performance. High school students who reported they smoked marijuana at least once in the past 30 days (current users) were more likely to make mostly Cs and Ds than peers who did not. The association of each of these illicit drug use indicators with academic achievement is highly significant. More research is needed to explore the association between lower grades and illicit drug use, including identification of other related factors.
